<p><bold>Triphenylarsine and stibine Fischer carbene complexes: Synthesis, structure, and electrochemistry.</bold> A series of triphenylarsine- and stibine-substituted Fischer ethoxycarbene complexes are reported. Structural analyses were carried out by means of single-crystal X-ray diffractometry and natural bonding orbital calculations. Insights into the electronic structure of the complexes were obtained by voltammetric analyses and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The application as metathesis catalysts was tested.</p>

<title></title>
<p>Karbeenverbindings is &#x2019;n groeiende veld van navorsing vanwe&#x00EB; die veelvuldige gebruike van karbeenkomplekse in organiese transformasies (D&#x00F6;tz <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0001">1975</xref>). Die klassieke sintese van Fischer-tipe karbeenkomplekse behels die behandeling van &#x2019;n metaalkarbonielkompleks met &#x2019;n organolitium-reagens, gevolg deur alkilering (Fischer &#x0026; Maasb&#x00F6;l <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0002">1964</xref>).</p>
<p>Fosfiene (PR<sub>3</sub>) is neutrale spesies wat ko&#x00F6;rdineer as twee-elektron-donorligande. Ligandsubstitusie met fosfiene het gelei na Fischer-tipe karbeenkomplekse met veranderde elektrochemiese eienskappe (Landman et al. <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0005">2014</xref>), sowel as ho&#x00EB;r stabiliteit in atmosferiese toestande (Fischer &#x0026; Richter <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0003">1976</xref>) as die pentakarboniel-voorlopers. Arseen en antimoon is, nes fosfor, &#x2019;n groepvyf-element, en die derivate (AsR<sub>3</sub> en SbR<sub>3</sub>) ko&#x00F6;rdineer as neutrale twee-elektrondonors. Arseen- en antimoonderivate kan beskou word as analo&#x00EB; van fosfienligande.</p>
<p>Alhoewel die fosfiengesubstitueerde Fischer-tipe karbeenkomplekse verbeterde eienskappe getoon het, is navorsing rakende die Fischer-tipe karbeenkomplekse, wat arseen- en antimoonligande bevat, nog meestal onbekend. Ons stel belang om die veld van die Fischer-tipe karbeenkomplekse te verbreed, gemik op substitusieprodukte met die ligande trifenielarseen en trifenielantimoon.</p>
<p>&#x2019;n Reeks van arseen- en antimoongesubstitueerde Fischer-tipe karbeenkomplekse van molibdeen(0) en wolfram(0) is gesintetiseer vir die heteroarene: tiofeen, furaan, N-metielpirrool, en 2,2&#x2019;-bitiofeen. Die sintese behels die refluks van die pentakarboniel-karbeenkomplekse, tesame met die ligand, in heksaan. Suiwering van die komplekse is uitgevoer deur middel van kieseljelkolom-chromatografie. Karakterisering van die komplekse sluit in: KMR-spektroskopie, IR- spektroskopie, elementele analise, massaspektrometrie, en enkelkristal-X-straaldiffraktometrie. Die stereochemie van die verbindings is met behulp van die KMR-spektra, IR-spektra en kristalstrukture bevestig as die <italic>cis</italic>-isomeer vir elk van die komplekse.</p>
<p>Teoretiese berekeninge is uitgevoer om molekul&#x00EA;re orbitale en natuurlike bindingsorbitale te bereken. Vergelykende studies is uitgevoer met die eksperimentele kristalstruktuur en die teoreties geoptimiseerde struktuur. Reaktiwiteitspatrone kan vanaf die molukul&#x00EA;re orbitale, natuurlike bindingsorbitale en elektrostatiese potensiaalkaarte verkry word, vir gebruik om optimale katalisatore te ontwerp.</p>
<p>Elektrochemiese ondersoeke van die teikenkomplekse is uitgevoer deur middel van sikliese voltammetrie. Ligandafhanklike redokseienskappe is vir die komplekse gevind. Ligandsubstitusie lei na &#x2019;n metaalsentrum wat makliker oksideer, maar het &#x2019;n minimale effek op die reduksie van die karbeenkoolstof. Elektrochemiese data van die komplekse kan as maatstaf gebruik word vir die geskiktheid van die komplekse in molekul&#x00EA;re drade (Lage et al. <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0004">2008</xref>).</p>
<p>Die studie is afgesluit met &#x2019;n katalise-gevallestudie, gemik op die metatese van niegeaktiveerde alkene. Die alkeen alliel-etieleter is by kamertemperatuur met <italic>cis</italic>-[(L)(CO)<sub>4</sub>MoC(OEt)(C<sub>8</sub>H<sub>5</sub>S<sub>2</sub>)] behandel vir drie ure. Daar is gevind dat die trifenielarseen-bevattende verbinding (L = AsPh<sub>3</sub>) die hoogste omskakeling toon, gevolg deur die trifenielantimoonkompleks (L = SbPh<sub>3</sub>), terwyl die trifenielfosfien die swakste omskakeling getoon het (L = PPh<sub>3</sub>). Die pentakarbonielkompleks (L = CO) het die tweede laagste omskakeling getoon.</p>
