<p><bold>Noble metal catalysts on metal oxide support by co-precipitation for low-temperature selective hydrogenation.</bold> The selective catalytic hydrogenation of &#x03B1;, &#x00DF;-unsaturated aldehydes is a useful transformation in organic synthesis to produce fine chemicals. The formation of allylic alcohols by hydrogenation of the carbonyl of &#x03B1;, &#x00DF;-unsaturated aldehydes are extremely valuable intermediates in the fragrance, flavouring and pharmaceutical industry.</p>

<p>Die selektiewe hidrogenering van &#x03B1;, &#x00DF;-onversadigde aldehiede is &#x2019;n nuttige transformasie in organiese sintese om meer komplekse chemikalie&#x00EB; te produseer (Boudart <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0001">1994</xref>). Die vorming van alliliese alkohole deur hidrogenasie van die karboniel van &#x03B1;, &#x00DF;-onversadigde aldehiede lewer waardevolle intermedi&#x00EA;re verbindings in die geur- en farmaseutiese bedryf (Gallezot &#x0026; Richard <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0002">1998</xref>). Platinumkataliste is nie welbekend vir selektiewe hidrogenering nie, maar indien die platinum gekombineer word met &#x2019;n metaaloksiedondersteuner, kan dit dalk die katalitiese aktiwiteit verbeter. Dit is ook bekend dat die voorbereidingsmetode en die sinergisme tussen die aktiewe komponente en die ondersteuningsmateriaal &#x2019;n belangrike rol speel in die bepaling van die katalitiese prestasie (Qiao <italic>et al</italic>. <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="CIT0003">2009</xref>).</p>
<p>Die voorbereiding van katalitiese materiaal kan soms &#x2019;n lastige prosedure wees. Deur &#x2019;n gesamentlike presipitasiemetode kan die gewenste produk met relatiewe gemak verkry word. Verskillende platinumbeladings is op die metaaloksied-ondersteuningsmateriaal verkry.</p>
<p>Die kataliste is by verskillende temperature gereduseer en gekalsineer. Die kataliste is gekarakteriseer deur middel van induktief gekoppelde plasma (ICP), termogravimetriese analise (TGA), differensi&#x00EB;le skanderingskalorimetrie (DSC) en X-straalfoto-elektronspektroskopie (XPS).</p>
<p>ICP het die persentasiebeladings van die platinum op die ysteroksied bevestig. Die gereduseerde kataliste het magnetiese eienskappe getoon wat die skeiding daarvan in die reaksiemengsel sal vergemaklik. Met XPS-analise is vasgestel dat die metaaloksied Fe2O3 is.</p>
